New Markers!

Fri Apr 28, 2006, 6:17 PM
Well, i'm excited b/c i just won an ebay auction for my very own set of 48 brand new Prismacolor markers :w00t!: Here's hoping that i can actually use them effectively and don't ruin a bunch of lineart :giggle: They should come right about the time i finish up my semester, so hopefully i'll have some time to color some artwork

In other news, i will begin seeing clients this summer (I am a Clinical Psychology graduate student and the summer will mark the beginning of my second year in grad school). I'm really a little freaked out about it since we've recieved no training yet. I'm kind of afraid they're just going to chuck me in there and be like, "Good luck!"

Also - check out my gorgeous EGL dress made for me by =zeldyn-stock at a rock bottom price. I am completely in love with it and plan to get another one as soon as money allows!

If you're going to get serious about using markers, then I recommend trying out some marker paper. Bienfang makes a good one. It almost has a vellum-like surface that lets you blend the inks before they dry and doesn't bleed like regular copy paper or sketchbook paper. It's quite nice. =D I used primacolors a lot a few years ago, and then only problem I ran into with them was that some colors (I think black, maybe?) had a gross smell. Could have just been mine, or it could have been old.

Anyways, congrats on winning the auction. Have fun with those colors!

Thank you so much for the advice hon! I would have just tried using them with my regular sketchpad :giggle: I have a vellum pad - do you think that would work? I definitely value your advice since you're so great with color (and i clearly am not!).

In Medical School the first two years were almost entirely class work. After we passed the first set of licensing boards, we were allowed to proceed to the thrid year where we began actual working with patients.

I hope there is something similar in the psychology world.

Since psychiatrists are MDs, they do the same stuff I did plus a residency.

Yay for new drawing tools, I have no idea what a Prismacolor marker is but I yaying anyway. :D

Wow, that would be pretty scary. Hoping you get some more training to make you more confident with giving advice/listening. Hopefully you get nice clients too.

I'm *okay* with color. :3

Vellum could work, depending on how transparent it is. Either way you could probably get some pretty cool results. I say just experiment and see what you like best.
