A portrait of one of my favorite deviants :) A great friend and great stock photographer

Used this photo as reference: [link]
The hair gave me so much trouble :faint: I knew it would when i picked the photo, but i tried anyway. It's by no means perfect and it doesn't look like the ref, but i like it

HB, 2B, 3B and 6B pencils + blending stomps and kneaded eraser on 11x17 paper.

Oh Des, this is wonderful! *explodes with excitement*

Ahem. Wow, this is seriously one of the best portraits I've seen of me (if I may say so myself). It looks so real... You should be a comission artist, I bet you'd have loads of people begging you to draw their portraits. :aww:

And thanks so much for entering my contest! This particular category seems not to have a great turnout... This makes it worth it though. Thank you!

I'm so glad you like it that much  I'm pretty happy with it - althought the hair was killer :giggle: That's so sweet of you to say i should do commissions  It would be great practice to draw all kinds of different people.

I figured that i'd enter and if no one else enters traditional art i'd win by default :lmao: hehe
Thank you so much for the fav too sweety :glomp:

Yeah hair is the worst, I always struggle with it~! Great job.

I must say that I agree with Sofia. You are really talented. I really like your use of shading. How long have you been drawing?

I really appreciate it  It's not very often that any pencil artwork gets love on this site, so i'm kind of on the losing end of the art spectrum :giggle:

I've been drawing since i was really little, but i actually started trying to develop my skills around 4th or 5th grade. I read comic books as a kid and i would copy the characters from them (mostly X-men). If you look in my gallery you can see that all my women still have really big boobs and they're all pretty no matter what :giggle: Those are the aftereffects of teaching myself to draw with comic books :XD:
More recently, i took my first drawing class in college last semester (sucks that it was my very last semester as an undergrad b/c i would love to take more) and i think it helped me improve a lot. I may try to do more art classes during graduate school but i don't know how lenient my department will be about me taking classes outside my degree program (or if i'll even have time for an extra class).
Thank you for commenting and for asking - it really means a lot :glomp:
